Request for cancellation of expulsion order

Those who have received a Decree of expulsion from the Italian territory or a Report in the SIS (Schengen Information System) of inadmissibility in the Schengen territory, in order to be granted access to Italy again, need a special authorisation which is issued by the Ministry of the Interior.

The application must be submitted in person by the interested party at this Consulate General, by appointment only, to be requested by email at toronto.info@esteri.it.

The signature of the application must be affixed at the counter in the presence of the consular officer.

Cost of signature authentication: see art. 24 of the Consular Fee. The fee can be paid by Canadian debit card (no credit card, no digital payments) or in cash (Canadian dollars only).

Documentation required:

  • Application for special authorisation to return to Italy (click here for Application form);
  • Passport and photocopy of the pages containing personal data and entry and exit stamps. In the event that the stamps are on expired passports, bring all expired documents that are relevant to the application;
  • Copy of the expulsion decree;
  • Appropriate documentation proving the exact date of the actual departure from the national territory and the absence from the territory of the Schengen States for the duration provided for in the Expulsion Decree.

N.B. Any documents issued by the Canadian authorities (e.g. an IRCC letter) must be legalised by means of an Apostille, which must be requested from the competent Canadian authorities, possibly after notarisation. For information on the Apostille, click here.

The Consulate General reserves the right to request additional documentation if deemed necessary.
