CITIZENSHIP, PASSPORT, SCHENGEN VISA

Prenot@mi is an online booking tool centrally managed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Prenot@mi allows you to register on the platform, choose the service you need and book an appointment. Once you are a registered user, you can manage your appointment, book another, cancel the existing ones if need be. For each service, applicants must book different appointments (as an example, one appointment for citizenship services will not be valid also to apply for a visa).

F.A.Q.

I CANNOT CREATE MY ACCOUNT OR I CANNOT ACCESS IT WITH MY CREDENTIALS.

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome manages Prenot@mi entirely at central level. If you experience problems with OTPs or you receive error messages, we strongly suggest that you try again after a few hours or the next day. You can also refer to the User Manual available in the main page of the login page. Should the problem persist, you may send an email to toronto.helpdesk@esteri.it including a copy of any Id (passport, driver license, Ontario photo card) for identification purposes. This email is dedicated exclusively to technical Prenot@mi related issues only.

I BOOKED AN APPOINTMENT BUT I AM UNABLE TO ATTEND. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

When you book your appointment with Prenot@mi, in a window of time between the tenth and the third day before your appointment, the system will ask you to confirm your attendance. If you know in advance that you will not be able to attend the appointment, you must cancel it through Prenot@mi. In doing so, you will free your slot and this will help other users book their own appointment. If cannot attend due to unforeseen circumstances on the very same day of the appointment and you are unable to cancel it on the system, you may write an email to the Consulate, using the email address of the relevant service (link Contatti).

THERE ARE NO AVAILABLE SLOTS. WHAT CAN I DO?

In addition to that, you can activate the “waiting list” option. The waiting list function will inform you as a priority when a new slot becomes available. Kindly note that if you refuse to book the slot offered via the waiting list, you will be cancelled from it and will have to restart your booking procedure from the beginning.

The “waiting list” option can only work at its full potential if users who are unable to show up on the day of the appointment diligently cancel it from the system or inform the Consulate.

CITIZENSHIP BY DESCENT – APPOINTMENTS

Regrettably, due to the very large number of applicants, the appointment slots are currently booked until the end of 2024. However, new procedures to create additional ways of applying for citizenship by descent are currently being studied and will be implemented soon.

Therefore, users who have not yet managed to book an appointment through the portal Prenot@mi are invited to regularly check this page and the “News” section of the website, where we will post all news regarding this matter.
