Repatriation of persons registered in AIRE

If you are an Italian citizen registered in AIRE and returning to Italy permanently, you must attend in person at the
Comune where you intend to reside to notify your new address.

The Comune will simultaneously cancel your AIRE registration and register you in the APR (Registry of the Resident Population).

It is the Comune’s responsibility to officially inform the Consulate of previous jurisdiction of the date of your repatriation for
registration in its consular records.

Cancellation from Aire as a result of repatriation and the subsequent update of the consular records will occur only
after your registration by the Comune in its APR has been confirmed. Following which you will
formally resume your residency Italy and be listed again in the local voting rolls of the Italian Republic.
