Pursuant to Article 3 paragraph 2 of the Community Code on Visas, Italy has decided to introduce the airport transit visa (ATV) requirement for Tajik and Uzbek citizens transiting through Italian airports, as of 01 February 2025.
An airport transit visa (ATV) allows the foreign national subject to this requirement to access the international transit zone of an airport located on Italian territory, during stopovers or sections of an international flight, without entering the territory of the Member State that issued the visa (Italy).
As of 1 February 2025, all Tajik and Uzbek citizens will have to hold an ATV in order to transit through the international zones of Italian airports, with the exception of those who fall into the categories set out in Article 3, paragraph 5 of the Visa Code (available here).
