Science Awards 2024/2025: “Italian Bilateral Scientific Cooperation Award”, “L’innovazione che parla italiano” and “Science, She Says!”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announces the eighth edition of the ‘Italian Bilateral Scientific Cooperation Award’ and ‘Innovation that speaks Italian’, and the third edition of the ‘Science, she Says!’ award.

The ‘Italian Bilateral Scientific Cooperation Award’ is dedicated to senior researchers who have distinguished themselves in the context of the country in which they work. Nominations will be examined by a Scientific Committee consisting of the MUR and MAECI, the Presidents of the main Research Centres and the Conference of Italian University Rectors (CRUI). For this award it is not possible to self-nominate, it is necessary to receive a nomination.

The ‘L’innovazione che parla italiano’ award recognises the innovative value of technology start-ups operating abroad and founded by Italian citizens. Nominations will be examined by a technical committee coordinated by PNI Cube (an association that brings together Italian academic incubators and ‘business plan competitions’, set up with the aim of stimulating the birth and accompanying to the market of new knowledge-intensive companies of university origin). The ‘Science, She Says!’ Prize aims to recognise a young female scientist who has made a significant contribution to the advancement of science and technology through her outstanding work in North America. Italian female scientists are not eligible for this award. Nominees must reside in the country in which they are nominated for the award, at least as of 1 January 2023. The age limit is up to 40 years at the time of publication of this notice. It is not possible to self-nominate for this award, a nomination must be received. The nomination should be submitted by an eminent scientist holding a leading position in a Scientific Academy, University, Research Institute or Department of the Government of Canada in which the nominee is working.

The ceremony for all three awards is scheduled to take place at the next Scientific Attaché Conference in 2025 in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
