The Consulate General of Italy in Toronto intends to appoint a new Honorary Vice Consul of Italy in Windsor, to carry out functions of assistance in favour of Italian citizens and protection of Italian interests in the area of competence (the counties of Essex and Kent, in Ontario).
Honorary Consular Officials must reside in the territory where the Honorary Office is based (in this case, the counties of Essex and Kent).
Honorary Consular Officials are chosen “among persons, preferably of Italian nationality, who enjoy esteem and prestige and who give full confidence that they can adequately perform consular duties.” (Article 47(1) of Italian Presidential Decree No. 18 of 5 January 1967).
It is also advisable for candidates to have a good command of the Italian language.
Honorary Consular Officials are volunteers.
The conferment of an appointment to perform honorary consular duties does not constitute a public employment relationship, nor a subordinate employment relationship, but rather a relationship of voluntary service for the performance of honorary duties in favour of the Republic of Italy.
The position of Honorary Consular Official is entirely honorary and voluntary (no salary or other remuneration), any contributions paid by the State not being considered as remuneration.
The costs of running honorary consular offices are therefore primarily borne by the office holders themselves.
Those who, having the minimum requirements indicated below, are interested in applying, may send their Curriculum Vitae and a copy of a valid identity document (Italian or Canadian passport), accompanied by a short letter of motivation, no later than May 22, 2024 (deadline extended to May 22, previously April 22), to: toronto.info@esteri.it, specifying in the subject line “Application for HVC Windsor“.
