The Consulate General of Italy in Toronto is glad to announce that from today payments of consular fees can be done at the counters, for services provided “in person” also by Canadian DEBIT CARD (credit card cannot be accepted).
There is a surcharge of 0.20 per transaction (retained by the service provider, not the Consulate) for debit card transactions, in any case the user is free to pay (without surcharge) also in cash and money order/bank draft.
We are still in a trial phase and some limitations still applies (for ex. for the time being visa fess cannot be paid by debit cards for technical reasons; on the last 2 working days of the month, for internal accounting reasons, debit cards cannot be used yet), but the Consulate General in Toronto is the first Italian diplomatic post in Canada and one of the first in the entire North American region having activated electronic payments (debit cards only).
