Unlimited Validity of the Electronic Identity Card issued to citizens aged 70 or over"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Effective July 30, 2026<\/strong>, <strong>Electronic Identity Cards (CIE &#8211; Carta d&#8217;identit\u00e0 elettronica) issued to citizens aged seventy or over<\/strong> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">at the time of application<\/span> will have <strong>unlimited validity<\/strong> and will remain valid for travel abroad.<\/p>\n<p>Citizens over seventy who were issued a CIE after July 30, 2026, will not be subject to periodic renewal of the document.<\/p>\n<p>Ministry of the Interior Circular No. 15483 of July 24, 2026, also specifies that <strong>the document&#8217;s unlimited validity does not apply in the following cases:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <strong>For digital identification via CIE<\/strong>, which remains subject to the ten-year validity period. <strong>Citizens over seventy who wish to continue using online services via the Electronic Identity Card must therefore request the issuance of a new document<\/strong>, after revoking the previously issued document.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; For <strong>access through automatic e-gates located at airports using a CIE<\/strong>.
