{"id":9437,"date":"2026-07-17T21:58:52","date_gmt":"2026-07-17T19:58:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/constoronto.esteri.it\/news\/dal_consolato\/2026\/07\/missione-del-funzionario-consolare-itinerante-niagara-falls\/"},"modified":"2026-07-17T23:04:34","modified_gmt":"2026-07-17T21:04:34","slug":"missione-del-funzionario-consolare-itinerante-niagara-falls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/constoronto.esteri.it\/en\/news\/dal_consolato\/2026\/07\/missione-del-funzionario-consolare-itinerante-niagara-falls\/","title":{"rendered":"Consular Visit to Niagara Falls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Consulate General of Italy in Toronto is planning a visit of its consular staff to the area of <strong>Niagara Falls<\/strong>, with a view to acquiring biometrics and all the documents required in order to renew Italian passports, in favour of <strong>Italian nationals registered with the AIRE and resident in the Counties of Lincoln and Welland, whose passport is expired or about to expire.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The consular visit is tentatively scheduled for<strong> August 7, 2026,<\/strong> approximately from 9.30am to 5.00pm.<\/p>\n<p>Please, read carefully the information below.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>How many appointments are available on August 7? <\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>40 appointments<\/strong>. This number is based on the actual possibility of acquiring all the applications in a working day and reflects the actual ability of the Consulate General of Italy in Toronto to process the applications within the legal timeframes.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Who can request an appointment? <\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>All applicant <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">must be registered with the AIRE<\/span> (Registry of Italian Nationals Residing Abroad) and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">must be resident in the Counties of Lincoln and Welland<\/span>. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Please note: <\/strong>this consular visit is for passports only. It will not be possible to receive applicants for different services such as citizenship by descent or reacquisition of Italian citizenship.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We will treat as a<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> priority<\/span> requests received from the following applicants<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Italian PR Card holders<\/strong>, <strong>whose passport will expire by January 31, 2027<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Italian nationals aged 70 and above<\/strong> (born in 1956 and previous years), whose Italian passport will expire by January 31, 2027 or whose passport expired within the previous 5 years;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Families with children aged 0 -6 years, whose passports will expire by January 31, 2027 or whose passport expired within the previous 5 years<\/strong>. In case of first passport for minors, please note that parents must have received confirmation of the registration of the children\u2019s birth certificate in Italy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pregnant women<\/strong>, whose passport will expire by January 31, 2027 or whose passport expired within the previous 5 years. Pregnancy must be confirmed by attaching a medical certificate;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Applicants with permanent disabilities<\/strong> (medical documentation required), whose passport will expire by January 31, 2027 or whose passport expired within the previous 5 years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>If the maximum number of appointments is not filled by applicants on the &#8220;Priority&#8221; list, the following may also be considered:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Italian national registered with the AIRE, whose passport will expire by January 31, 2027, regardless of age;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Italian national registered with the AIRE, whose passport expired in the 5 years prior to January 31, 2027, regardless of age.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requests from applicants not included in the lists above, as well as from those not registered with AIRE or not resident in Lincoln and Welland counties, or requests received after the deadline indicated in point 3, cannot be considered<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>How do I book?<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Applicants must send an email to the email address<\/strong> <a href=\"mailto:toronto.info@esteri.it\">toronto.info@esteri.it<\/a>, <strong>between July 17 and July 24 included<\/strong>. Emails sent after July 24 will not be considered.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applicants must attach to the email<\/strong> (do not send links to documents or documents in .HEIC format as the Consulate cannot access such files):<\/p>\n<p>Adult applicants<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>One\u00a0<\/b>front-facing colored\u00a0<strong>photo<\/strong>\u00a0on a white background, 35X45mm (head size must be between 32 and 35 mm from the chin to the crown of the head), taken within the past 6 months \u2013\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/constoronto.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/fotografia_passaporto_web_OK.pdf\">Click here to see the specimen<\/a>\u00a0(the background of the picture should always be white and solid colour).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Previous Italian passport\u00a0<\/strong><strong>(even if expired)<\/strong>\u00a0or, if it is the first Italian passport,\u00a0<strong>another valid passport<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>If your Italian passport is expired,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>dual citizens<\/strong> must attach a copy of <strong>another valid passport<\/strong>. Permanent Residents must attach their PR card, even if it is expired.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Canadian driver\u2019s license<\/strong>\u00a0or other proof of current address (ex. utility bill or Ontario Photo Card).<\/li>\n<li>You must submit the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/constoronto.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/mod_passaportomaggiorenni_inibitoria2023_.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">passport application form<\/a>, duly filled out and signed by you. If you are a\u00a0<strong>parent of minor children,\u00a0<\/strong>you must fill out also Section B of the aforesaid application form, in order to declare\u00a0\u00a0<strong>that you are not the recipient of any passport-inhibiting Court order.\u00a0<\/strong>WOMEN\u2019S LAST NAME: after marriage, Italian women continue to keep their maiden last name for passports and identity documents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Minor children<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>One\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0front-facing colored\u00a0<strong>photo<\/strong>\u00a0on a white background, 35X45mm (head size must be between 32 and 35 mm from the chin to the crown of the head), taken within the past 6 months \u2013\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/constoronto.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/fotografia_passaporto_web_OK.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here to see the specimen<\/a>\u00a0(background should be always white and solid colour).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Previous Italian passport<\/strong>\u00a0or if it is the first Italian passport, another valid photo ID (preferably a passport). Dual citizens\u00a0<strong>must<\/strong> bring their Canadian passport. Prior to applying for the<strong>\u00a0first passport<\/strong>\u00a0of their minor child, parents\/guardians must ensure that their children\u2019s birth certificate has been registered formally with the Italian authorities (Municipality\/Comune AIRE).\u00a0<strong>Particularly, before booking an appointment for the issuance of the passport, parents\/guardians are kindly requested to await email confirmation from the Consulate General that the birth certificate has been indeed sent to the relevant Municipality in Italy for registration.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Canadian driver\u2019s license<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>of the parents<\/strong>\u00a0or other proof of current address (ex. utility bill or Ontario Photo Card).<\/li>\n<li>You must submit the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/constoronto.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/domanda_passaporto_minori_2023.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>passport application form<\/strong><\/a>, duly filled out and\u00a0<strong>signed by both parents.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Parents<\/strong> must attach <strong>their own Italian or foreign<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>passport<\/strong>\u00a0on the day of the appointment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>This Consulate will carry out the necessary checks and, if there will be no impediments, it will send a confirmation email to the applicant, providing them with the address and a time slot. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>How do I know if the Consulate received my request for an appointment? <\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Applicants will receive an automated reply from <a href=\"mailto:toronto.info@esteri.it\">toronto.info@esteri.it<\/a>.<\/strong> Please check your junk folder. The automated reply in itself serves as confirmation of reception. If it will be possible to assign an appointment, the applicant will receive a specific communication sent by the Consulate, providing them with the location of the visit (full address) and a times slot.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>How do I know if my request for an appointment has not been accepted or if the limit of 40 appointments has been reached? <\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Failure to receive an appointment confirmation email from the Consulate by August 6th means the appointment is not confirmed and the user will not be able to attend.\u00a0<\/strong>The Consulate will do its best to respond to each individual communication.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Information regarding when the maximum number of 40 appointments has been reached will be posted on the Consulate website<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">6.<strong> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">What to expect on the day of the appointment and what documents should I bring?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the day of the appointment, at the time and place confirmed by the Consulate directly to each booked applicant, a Consular officer will collect the applicant&#8217;s fingerprints, photo, and signature, along with the passport application form and supporting documentation, as well as payment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The paperwork will be processed in Toronto, and the passport(s), once ready, will be mailed to the applicants&#8217; address, in a prepaid, self-addressed envelope to be provided by the applicants on the day of the appointment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the day of the appointment, you must bring with you:<\/p>\n<p>Adult applicants<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Money order or bank draft made payable to the Consulate General of Italy in Toronto for the amount due, as indicated here: Example: 1 passport = CA$188.00, 2 passports = CA$376.00; 3 passports = CA$564.00, and so on. <\/b>The total amount will be reconfirmed by the Consulate General upon appointment confirmation.<\/li>\n<li><b>A stamped, self-addressed envelope, such as XPRESSPOST or other traceable courier service, for mailing the passport once issued.
