The Honorary Vice Consul will receive your application and take care of acquiring your biometrics (fingerprints, photo, signature). <strong>Honorary Vice Consuls receive applications of those who are residents of their respective jurisdictions<\/strong>. For information on how to book your passport appointment through Prenot@mi, <a href=\"https:\/\/constoronto.esteri.it\/en\/news\/dal_consolato\/2025\/12\/calendari-2026-per-la-prenotazione-di-appuntamenti-per-passaporto-e-carta-didentita-elettronica\/\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">At the Consulate General of Italy in Toronto, passports are generally issued on the same day of the appointment, shortly after acquiring biometric data of the applicant, unless there are impediments.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The &#8220;express&#8221; issue of passports is possible only if the applicant is registered with <a href=\"https:\/\/constoronto.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/anagrafe-degli-italiani-residenti-allestero-aire\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AIRE<\/a> with an updated residence address in this consular jurisdiction<\/span><\/span> (Manitoba, North Western Territories and Ontario with some exceptions indicated below).<\/p>\n<p>Passports for adult applicants are valid for <strong>10 years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">In order to apply for a passport appointment with this Consulate you must be: <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>an Italian citizen<\/li>\n<li>registered with AIRE with an updated residence address in this consular district.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <strong>consular jurisdiction of this Consulate consists of: Manitoba, the North West Territories and Ontario, with some exceptions. <\/strong>For the city of Ottawa and the counties of Carleton, Dundas, Glengarry, Grenville, Prescott, Russel and Stormont it is necessary to contact the Embassy of Italy in Ottawa.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>DOCUMENTATION TO SUBMIT ON THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the day of the appointment booked through Prenot@mi, the applicant must attend the Consulate for\u00a0fingerprinting\u00a0and in order to submit the\u00a0documentation indicated below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IMPORTANT!<\/strong><\/p>\n<table class=\"table\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>INCOMPLETE PASSPORT APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AND THE APPLICANT WILL HAVE TO BOOK A NEW ONLINE APPOINTMENT THROUGH PRENOT@MI<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<ul>\n<li><b>One <\/b>front-facing colored <strong>photo<\/strong>\u00a0on a white background, 35X45mm (head size must be between 32 and 35 mm from the chin to the crown of the head), taken within the past 6 months &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/constoronto.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/fotografia_passaporto_web_OK.pdf\">Click here to see the specimen<\/a> (the background of the picture should always be white and solid colour).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Previous Italian passport <\/strong><strong>(even if expired)<\/strong>\u00a0or, if it is the first Italian passport, <strong>another valid passport<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>If your Italian passport is expired,<\/strong> <strong>dual citizens<\/strong> must bring <strong>another valid passport<\/strong>. Permanent Residents must bring their PR card, even if it is expired.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Canadian driver&#8217;s license<\/strong>\u00a0or other proof of current address (ex. utility bill or Ontario Photo Card).<\/li>\n<li>You must submit the <a href=\"https:\/\/constoronto.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/mod_passaportomaggiorenni_inibitoria2023_.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">passport application form<\/a>, duly filled out and signed by you. If you are a <strong>parent of minor children, <\/strong>you must fill out also Section B of the aforesaid application form, in order to declare\u00a0 <strong>that you are not the recipient of any passport-inhibiting Court order. <\/strong>WOMEN\u2019S LAST NAME: after marriage, Italian women continue to keep their maiden last name for passports and identity documents. On page 4 of the Italian passport, if requested, the husband\u2019s last name can be added.<br \/>\n<strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>*Parents of minor children <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under the provisions of art. 20 of Decree Law No. 69 of June 13, 2023, as of June 14, 2023, for the issuance of a passport in favor of a parent with minor children, the applicant must declare<strong>\u00a0the absence of any passport-inhibiting orders<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A passport-inhibiting order is a measure taken by the court<\/strong>, which may inhibit the issuance of a passport to a parent with minor children, when there is a concrete and current risk that, due to the move abroad, he or she may evade the fulfillment of his or her obligations to the children. An application for an injunction or passport-inhibiting order shall be made by appeal to the ordinary court of the place where the minor has his or her habitual residence. If the child is resident abroad, the application shall be brought before the court of the place of last residence in Italy or the court in whose district his or her municipality of AIRE registration is located.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The parent of minor children must carefully fill out also Section B of the<a href=\"https:\/\/constoronto.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/mod_passaportomaggiorenni_inibitoria2023_.pdf\"> passport application form<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>If you are resident in another consular district, or if you reside in Italy<\/strong>, you may apply for a passport to be issued at this Consulate (always and only by appointment through Prenot@mi) <strong>under exceptional circumstances<\/strong>, which must be proven.
