{"id":329,"date":"2023-01-11T15:17:22","date_gmt":"2023-01-11T14:17:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/constoronto.esteri.it\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-straniero\/visti\/pagina-visti-1\/"},"modified":"2024-12-13T22:46:47","modified_gmt":"2024-12-13T21:46:47","slug":"visti-schengen","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/constoronto.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-straniero\/visti\/visti-schengen\/","title":{"rendered":"Schengen Visas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Please be aware that the Consulate General of Italy receives Schengen Visa applicants <strong>by appointment only<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The Consulate can ONLY accept visa applications lodged by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">legal residents <\/span><\/strong>(Canadians, PR Card holders, Work\/Study visa holders)\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong> in the jurisdiction of the Consulate<\/strong><\/span>, which includes the <strong>Provinces of Ontario<\/strong> (except for the city of Ottawa and the Carleton, Dundas, Glengarry, Grenville, Prescott, Russel, and Stormont counties under the jurisdiction of the Italian Embassy in Ottawa), <strong>Manitoba and the Northwest Territories<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>A Schengen visa is required to stay in the Schengen territory for up to 90 days within a 180 day period and allows the visa holder to travel in the European Union Countries that signed the Schengen Agreement<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>If you intend to visit one or more Schengen Countries in the course of a single trip, you must apply for a visa at the Consulate of the Country that is your\u00a0<strong>main destination<\/strong>\u00a0(i.e. where you will stay longer).<\/li>\n<li>If, in the course of your trip, you will spend an equal amount of time in different Countries,\u00a0<strong>the visa MUST be requested at the Consulate of the Schengen Country port of first entry<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Read carefully the information provided below and then check the webpage of this website dedicated to the type of visa you need.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<details>\n<summary><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Do I need a Schengen Visa?\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/summary>\n<p><strong>To find out whether you need a Schengen Visa<\/strong>, visit the web portal &#8220;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vistoperitalia.esteri.it\/home\/en\">Il Visto per l&#8217;Italia<\/a>&#8220;<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you are a Canadian citizen<\/strong>, kindly note that <strong>Canadian citizens<\/strong>, and nationals of some other Countries,\u00a0<strong><u>are EXEMPT<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0from the visa requirement for visits\u00a0<strong>up to a maximum of 90 days in six months<\/strong> for the following reasons: <strong>tourism,\u00a0mission, business, invitation, participation in sports events and study<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>EU Home and Migration Affairs website<\/strong> has a common list of countries whose citizens <strong>must have a visa<\/strong> when crossing the external borders and those whose nationals are exempt from that requirement.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/home-affairs.ec.europa.eu\/document\/download\/ebd6113d-4d14-4ac2-ac9b-47f2e7976515_en?filename=list%20of%20countries%20whose%20citizens%20must%20have%20a%20visa%20when%20crossing%20the%20external%20borders%20and%20those%20whose%20nationals%20are%20exempt%20from%20that%20requirement_en.pdf\">Click here to check the list<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Citizens of Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Georgia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia and the Ukraine are exempt from visa obligation only if the passport contains biometric data.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All passports with biometric data show a special symbol (e-passport) at the front cover of the passport.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<hr \/>\n<details>\n<summary><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>How do I book an appointment?\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/summary>\n<p>If you need a SCHENGEN VISA from the Consulate General of Italy in Toronto,\u00a0<strong>you need to book an appointment through\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/prenotami.esteri.it\/\"><strong>Prenot@Mi<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Please be informed that the online appointment booking schedule <strong>may be full due to significant volumes of applications<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<hr \/>\n<details>\n<summary><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Requirements for most requested Schengen visas<\/strong><\/span><\/summary>\n<p><strong>Select the relevant item from the &#8220;navigate in the section&#8221; We do not accept group applications (exception can be made for families travelling together) or applications presented by third parties.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Appointments are always free<\/strong>; intermediaries who claim that they can get or cancel appointments for you are scamming you.<\/li>\n<li>Pay attention and read carefully what are the documents needed for your visa type.<\/li>\n<li>Please keep the amount of printed documents to a minimum. A visa application should consist of\u00a0 15\/20 pages at most. Use front\/back printing when possible.
