{"id":249,"date":"2023-01-10T21:36:01","date_gmt":"2023-01-10T20:36:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/constoronto.esteri.it\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/emergency-travel-documents-etd\/"},"modified":"2025-12-09T18:28:01","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T17:28:01","slug":"emergency-travel-documents-etd","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/constoronto.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/emergency-travel-documents-etd\/","title":{"rendered":"Emergency Travel Document (EU ETD)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>EMERGENCY TRAVEL DOCUMENT &#8211; EU ETD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This Consulate will issue an EU ETD (European Union Emergency Travel Document) to Italian citizens in case of emergency (i.e. a tourist scheduled for imminent departure who loses or has his\/her passport stolen).<br \/>\nAn EU ETD is valid only for the return trip to Italy or other country of residency (as indicated in A.I.R.E., the registry of Italians living abroad).<br \/>\n<strong>An EU ETD is not valid to travel to or take a connecting flight in the United States.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In order to apply for an EU ETD, please call the switchboard on +1 416 977 1566 on working days and during Consulate service hours, while the emergency number +1 416 456 3355 is available from 4pm to 9 pm on working days or on weekends and holidays from 8am to 9pm.<\/p>\n<p>To obtain an ETD, the applicant must attend in person with the following documentation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/constoronto.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Formulario-ETD-UE_IT_-con-v.-francese.docx\"><strong>Application form<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Local police report<\/strong>\u00a0of the loss or theft of the passport;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Self Declaration<\/strong> to report the loss of theft of your passport to the Consular Office (<a href=\"https:\/\/constoronto.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/denuncia_furto_smarrimaneto_ID_maggiorenni.pdf\">self declaration for adults<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/constoronto.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/denuncia_furto_smarrimento_ID_minorenni.pdf\">declaration for minors<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Return ticket<\/strong> to Italy or to other country of residence;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Two front-facing identical colored photos<\/strong>\u00a0(35X45mm) on a white background (the head should take up 70% of the entire photo)<\/li>\n<li><strong>A valid piece of photo ID<\/strong>\u00a0i.e. identity card, driver\u2019s license, etc. or\/and photocopy of the lost\/stolen passport.
