Holders of a <\/strong>(blue)<strong> Canadian Travel Document for refugees<\/strong> issued on the basis of the Geneva Convention of July 28, 1951 (note that this is not a regular blue Canadian passport for Canadian citizens) and<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong><strong>2. Holders of a Canadian-issued Certificate of Identity <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">who are stateless persons or refugees\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Do not need a visa to enter Italy for transit and or short term stay<\/strong> (e.g. for tourism or business purposes for <strong>up to 90 days<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>It is up to the applicant to check with other relevant Schengen Countries if the above documents are accepted, even for transit purposes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>PLEASE NOTE:<\/strong> since the Certificate of Identity does not indicate the reason for its issuance, holders who are stateless persons or refugees <strong>must travel with documentation to prove their status as a stateless person or as a refugee in Canada<\/strong>. <strong>For example<\/strong>: as <strong>proof of statelessness status<\/strong>, Canada refers to the document at the bottom of the following page \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/immigration-refugees-citizenship\/corporate\/publications-manuals\/operational-bulletins-manuals\/permanent-residence\/humanitarian-compassionate-consideration\/processing\/stateless.html\">The humanitarian and compassionate assessment: Statelessness &#8211; Canada.ca<\/a> , while for <strong>refugee status<\/strong>, the &#8220;refugee protection claimant document&#8221; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.irb-cisr.gc.ca\/en\/applying-refugee-protection\/Pages\/index.aspx\">https:\/\/www.irb-cisr.gc.ca\/en\/applying-refugee-protection\/Pages\/index.aspx<\/a>) can be used as proof of the holder\u2019s refugee status in Canada.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>If you are not a refugee or a stateless person<\/strong> and you hold no travel document other than a certificate of identity, you should apply for a visa<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3829 img-fluid\" src=\"https:\/\/constoronto.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Canadian_travel_document_issued_under_the_1951_convention.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"170\" height=\"246\" \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3828 img-fluid\" src=\"https:\/\/constoronto.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/certificate-identity.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"177\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"1.
