NOTICE: Measures regarding the delivery of Consular Services

PASSPORT AND CITIZENSHP APPLICATIONS:

Starting November 1, 2021, appointments may be booked using our new online appointment systemPrenot@mi accessed at https://prenotami.esteri.it

From that date, appointments for citizenship and issuing passports can be requested through the new portal.

If there is no availability, please check regularly the online system for freed slots after cancellations or non-confirmed bookings or enroll into the Waiting List option that will be presented by the system.

Applicants with an appointment will be required to wear a mask and can access only if without symptoms related to COVID19. Access to the Consulate will be limited to the person requesting the service, with the exception of minors and persons in need of assistance.

OTHER PROCEDURES

With the aim of mitigating the risk of users and employees, this Consulate General will receive BY MAIL (no appointment or presentation in person will be necessary) all requests for legalization of signatures on notarial deeds, legalization of civil statistic documents as well as requests for the registration of vital statistics documents according the procedures indicated below.

Canada Post offers a secure and reliable service. We recommend sending with an "Xpress post" envelope with shipping code (tracking number).

LEGALIZATION OF SIGNATURES ON NOTARIAL DEEDS:

Requests for the legalization of powers of attorney drawn up by lawyers and notaries recognized by this Consulate (see link lawyers and notaries) must include:

  • A letter of request indicating the contact information of the sender;
  • The original document to be legalized;
  • A “money order” made out to the CONSULATE GENERAL OF ITALY IN TORONTO to cover the consular fee (email ancip.toronto@esteri.it to verify amount);
  • A self-addressed “Xpress post” return envelope.

REQUESTS FOR THE REGISTRATION OF VITAL STATISTICS DOCUMENTS:

Requests for the registration of vital statistics documents must include:

  • Request of registration form, duly completed (see applicable link Forms);
  • Copy of applicant’s passport (for minors, copy of parents’ passports and birth certificates);
  • Original document;
  • Full translation into Italian done by one of the translators listed on on the webpage of this Consulate General (see link Consulate approved translators);
  • A “money order” made out to the CONSULATE GENERAL OF ITALY IN TORONTO to cover the consular fees (email ancip.toronto@esteri.it to verify amount).

REQUESTS FOR THE LEGALIZZATION OF VITAL STATISTICS DOCUMENTS to be submitted to another Diplomatic/Consular representation:

Requests must include:

  • A letter of request indicating the contact information of the sender;
  • Original document;
  • Full translation into Italian done by one of the translators listed on the webpage of this Consulate General approved translators (optional);
  • A “money order” made out to the CONSULATE GENERAL OF ITALY IN TORONTO to cover the consular fees (email ancip.toronto@esteri.it to verify amount).
  • A self-addressed “Xpress post” return envelope (please ensure that the envelope is of the correct type for destinations in other Provinces in Canada or other countries).
