Disposizioni per il contrasto e contenimento del Coronavirus

Situation in Italy

As of May 4, 2020, the Prime Ministerial Decree issued on April 26, setting measures intended to help contain the spread of Covid-19, in the so-called "phase two", is in force.

The above mentioned Decree is the last, in chronological order, of a series of measures adopted, in order to fight against the pandemic. For a full list of the measures currently enforced by the Government, click here.

Situation in Canada:

Effective March 18, 2020, new measures have been introduced to contain the spread of the virus in Canada.

Particularly, all foreigners are now banned from entering the country. Few exceptions are, however, being made for:

permanent residents, as well as spouses of Canadian citizens;

aircrews and diplomats;

holders of a work permit or a study permit;

Nevertheless, according to the official indications of the Canadian Government, all travelers authorized to enter the country are required to:

self-isolation at home for a period of 14 days, avoiding contact with individuals in precarious health condition and elderly people, and refraining from receiving visitors at home;

carefully monitor their health and wash hands frequently and thoroughly.

In extremely rare cases, an exemption from mandatory quarantine may be made, limited, however, to asymptomatic individuals. For more information on the grounds under which it may apply, see the following Order.

Furthermore:

there are significant restrictions on air traffic;

cruises with more than 500 passengers will not be able to dock at Canadian ports until next July;

Canadian citizens are recommended to avoid any non-essential overseas travel.

Clarifications with regard to the restrictions put in place by the Canadian Government are available here.

As of March 21, Canada and the USA have mutually agreed to close their border to all non-essential travel. Freight transportation services are exempted.

The Canadian government has created a telephone line dedicated to information on the coronavirus: +1-833-784-4397.
