A Stradivarius for the People - Canadian Tour

MATTEO FEDELI plays Antonio Stradivari 1715 “ex Bazzini”.

The Alberta Symphony Orchestra Society is proud to present “A Stradivarius for the People – Canadian Tour”, the first tour ever in Canada featuring the prestigious Antonio Stradivari violin 1715 “ex Bazzini-De Vito”.

This is a rare opportunity for Canadians to closely see and listen to an extraordinary instrument made by Antonio Stradivari in 1715, exactly 300 years ago.

Violinist Matteo Fedeli and pianist Emilio De Mercato are travelling across the country to perform:
Edmonton, Winspear Centre for Music: February 11
Calgary, Rozsa Centre Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall: February 12
Vancouver, Playhouse Theatre: February 13
Toronto, the castle of Casa Loma: February 17

The program includes a variety of wonderful works for violin and piano by composers such as Rachmaninoff (Hungarian Dance), Fauré (Après une rêve), Brahms (Scherzo in C minor), Grieg (Allegretto espressivo alla Romanza from Sonata op.45), Saint-Saëns (Danse Macabre), Franck (Allegro from Sonata in A major), Paganini (Cantabile), Bartok (Roumanian Folk Dances). Maestro Matteo Fedeli will lead the evening as well as a speaker with his introduction on the works, on the composers and disclosing the story of the Stradivarius violin built in 1715, “ex Bazzini-De Vito”.
