GENERAL INFORMATION

Please be aware that some Anti COVID safety regulations still applies at the Consulate General of Italy and the public is either received by appointment (Schengen visas only) or is asked to send applications by mail (National Visas only).

Visas applications can only be accepted from permanent residents in the jurisdiction of the Consulate, which includes the Provinces of Ontario (except for the city of Ottawa and the Carleton, Dundas, Glengarry, Grenville, Prescott, Russel, and Stormont counties under the jurisdiction of the Italian Embassy in Ottawa), Manitoba and the Northwest Territories.

SCHENGEN VISAS

1) If you need a short-term stay (90 days or less) you must apply for a SCHENGEN VISA

A Schengen visa is required to stay in the Schengen territory for up to 90 days within a 180 day period and allows the visa holder to travel in all of the 26 European Countries that signed the Schengen Agreement.

If you intend to visit one or more Schengen Countries in the course of a single trip, you must apply for a visa at the Consulate of the Country that is your main destination (i.e. where you will stay longer).
If, in the course of your trip, you will spend an equal amount of time in different Countries, the visa MUST be requested at the Consulate of the Schengen Country port of first entry.

If you need a SCHENGEN VISA from the Consulate General of Italy in Toronto, you need to book an appointment through Prenot@Mi

Prenot@Mi

Please be informed that the online appointment-booking schedule may be full due to significant volumes of applications. We are working on increasing the availability from August 1st, 2022. Check regularly the online system for freed slots after cancellations or non-confirmed bookings or enroll into the Waiting List option that will be presented by the system.

Note: Holders of a blue Canadian Travel Document (convention of july 28th 1951) do not need visa to enter Italy for transit/and or short term stay (e.g. for tourism or business purposes for up to 90 days).

NOTICE TO SCHENGEN VISA APPLICANTS:

On November 14, 2022 the Visa Office will open two new 2023 calendars for Schengen visa appointments, one for tourism visas (up to 90 days) and one for business and study (up to 90 days) visas.

Both 2023 calendars will be open for a span of 120 days (if you log in today, you will see the availability of the next 120 days). Appointments are given from Monday to Thursday.

The first date available to book will be January 13, 2023.

Please be aware that for the year 2023 you will find two new calendars. Make sure to book the right one, based on your travel purpose.

If you book an appointment on the wrong calendar, on the day of the appointment you will not be able to apply, your application will be returned to you and you will have to restart the procedure from the beginning.
