University in Italy

General news regarding the organization and the functioning of Italian universities can be found on the University page of the website of the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research.

All the courses offered by Italian universities can be browsed through the course search engine developed by MIUR and CINECA; all the other useful information can be obtained through CINECA's multi-function search engine.

Enrolling at an Italian university

Foreign students have the possibility of enrolling at Italian universities according to the regulations set by each specific university and following the regulations set by the Ministry of Education for admission and enrollment.

Exchange agreements between Canadian and Italian universities

• The University of Toronto has exchange programs with Bocconi University and the University of Siena; Woodsworth College organizes a summer school program in Siena, in collaboration with the University of Siena.
• The Department of Language Studies of the University of Toronto Mississauga also organizes study tours of nine weeks in Florence, in collaboration with the University of Florence.

• York University has partnership agreements with five Italian universities: Bocconi (with the Schulich School of Business), Bologna (with the Osgoode Hall Law School), Calabria, Cassino and L'Aquila.
Summer programs: programs of culture and history in Rome and Florence and program of Italian language in Bologna, organized by the University of Bologna.
International dual degree in Mathematics and Statistics between York University and the University of L'Aquila: Canadian students spend two years at York and one in L'Aquila to obtain an Italian university degree, then they go back to York for the fourth year in order to obtain the Honours BA. The program is specular for Italian students.

• The Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University has exchange programs with the University of Florence for students of Business Management, Hospitality & Tourism, Management e Information Technology Management.
• The Faculty of Communication & Design at Ryerson University has exchange programs with the Fondazione Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia of Milan.

• The Faculty of Science at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in Oshawa has a memorandum of agreement with the Polytechnic University of Turin for one semester of attendance (maximum 5 students per university).

• Laurentian University has exchange programs with the University of Udine intended for 2 students and exchange programs through the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP) with the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Pavia, Trieste and Urbino.

• McMaster University has exchange programs with the University of Trento and exchange programs through the Trans-Atlantic Science Student Exchange Program (TASSEP) with the Universities of Bologna and Pavia.

• Queen's University has exchange programs with Bocconi University, with the University of Turin through the geoNatHaz Consortium and with the Universities of Bologna and Pavia through the Trans-Atlantic Science Student Exchange Program (TASSEP).

• Trent University has exchange programs with the University of Bologna.

• The University of Guelph has exchange programs of one semester for 4 students with the University of Udine.

• The University of Western Ontario has exchange programs with the University of Verona for students of the Faculties of Arts and Humanities and of Health Science.

• The University of Windsor signed a memorandum of agreement with the Regions Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Sardinia and Liguria and with a group of five secondary schools; moreover, it offers a joint international degree with the Polytechnic University of Turin and exchange programs with the University of Cassino and the University of Udine.

• Wilfrid Laurier University has exchange programs with the University of Udine and the Libera Università Carlo Cattaneo.

• The Ontario College of Art and Design has an 8-month off-campus studies program in Florence for 25 students.

• The School of Architecture at the University of Waterloo has an off-campus studies program in Rome for 40 to 60 students, from September to December.

Exchange agreements between Canadian colleges and Italian institutes

• Agreement between the George Brown College Chef School and the Scuola Internazionale di Cucina Italiana ALMA based in Colorno (Parma) for activities of study and training in Italian restaurants for 30 students, from the end of August to mid-December.

Studying in English in Italy

Italy offers many opportunities to those who want to study in languages other than Italian: Italian universities are increasingly being internationalized and offer degree programs in English, too; Italy also hosts many international educational institutions:
